I just watched a video of a man giving a homeless man money and it turned out to be his birthday, so touching. Some would say that is the wrong thing to do. But you know what, who says?
My mum used to think I was crazy, when I was younger I would go to Oakland, Pittsburgh and take homeless people to McDonalds. Buy them food with the little bit of money I had and worked for, sit and talk with them. It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life, I still remember those times. And I bet they do too.
Last year I went through all the small bottles of shampoo and conditioner I took from hotels, I took all the half eaten bags of food I bought and didn't really like, and I took anything small that I wasn't using and put them together into little care packages. As we would drive down Bird Road and come to US 1 I would open the window and give the homeless a package. It was going to do them a lot more good than it was doing me sitting in my home creating clutter.
My friend Bottles Belafonte feeds the homeless every Sunday at Camilla's House. To me that is REAL dedication and love to making the world a better place. Not just for his service, but because those people will forever remember his kindness, and know that the world isn't all bad.
Sometimes I think I need so much more, and I am not satisfied, but truth is I am so blessed with what I have. Hope you feel blessed too. R.A.K.E.
